Making the Business Case: Live2Learn

MAKING THE BUSINESS CASE

Live2Learn: Adult Enrichment Classes

Proposal Writing • Revenue Development • Business Planning • Organizational Communications

As Board Chair of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, I developed Live2Learn, a proposal to generate additional revenue by offering adult community enrichment classes in the congregation's underused facilities.

The congregation faced a persistent operating deficit and had limited staff capacity to market its rental spaces. I proposed a partnership model in which Live2Learn would recruit instructors, organize and promote classes, manage enrollment, and pay the congregation for facility use.

The proposal translated that concept into a practical operating plan. It addressed scheduling, staffing, pricing, insurance, enrollment requirements, and financial risk. Sample budgets for ballroom dancing and yoga classes illustrated how the arrangement could generate rental income while compensating instructors and covering administrative costs.

Because I was both Board Chair and the proposed program manager, the document also addressed questions about financial arrangements between the congregation and its members.

The proposal is an example of my ability to identify an organizational challenge, develop a financially grounded solution, and present a detailed business case for leadership consideration.
